Divorce in pre-Christian Scandinavia was relatively easy to accomplish and nowhere near as uncommon as it would have been in christianized lands. The idea of divorce being taboo was a Christian concept.

Viking divorces were also fairly egalitarian for the times. Women had a number of ways to legally ask for a divorce, just as men did, and if there were any children in the marriage both parents were responsible for providing for said children, regardless of their marital status.
